Starting an advanced trace

Once a basic trace has been performed you have the option to perform an advanced trace. This will give you more detailed information for the IP address / URL traced.

To do this click the advanced trace icon as shown in the image below:

Once this button has been pressed the advanced trace will start. The trace information dialogs to the right will be updated with the new information and the route table pane will open and each hop will be shown, as shown in the image below:

The advanced trace will plot each location on the world map with the final destination pin pointed. As you can see in the image above some rows in the table are different colors. These represent the level of location accuracy:

        -Green = 100% database match

        -Red = Whois match

        -Purple = Country level match

        -Light Blue = Continent match

        -Yellow = No match (usually frequent as the start location for traces due to this normally being private IP's/routers etc.)

The panels to the right hand side can be expanded to show the information advertized.
